KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 — Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) said today it is unaffected after DAP did not invite it to the Opposition party’s national conference.
PPBM vice-president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir was reported by Sinar Harian as saying today that it was “okay” for the Umno splinter party to be excluded.
“It is okay if we are not invited. We are not a Pakatan Harapan partner. We wouldn’t want to sulk for not being invited,” he was quoted as saying.
It was reported that only Pakatan component parties PKR and Parti Amanah Negara would be invited for DAP’s event next week. The pact has yet to decide whether to accept PPBM into its fold.
Mukhriz added this shouldn’t be made into an issue because there is still cooperation between his party and DAP on other matters.
“Bersatu does not care that we are not invited. The DAP conference is not as big as the Pakatan Harapan conference,” he said referring to the Opposition bloc’s event earlier this month that PPBM attended.
Mukhriz’s comment came after Umno-owned paper Mingguan Malaysia accused DAP today of “betraying” PPBM chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad by allegedly snubbing him from the conference.
Writing as the collective pseudonym of its editors, Awang Selamat, the paper said DAP and its parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang had shamed Dr Mahathir and PPBM even after the former prime minister had joined the Bersih 5 rally last week.
