KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 — Police have detained a suspected paedophile who had been uploading nude pictures of children on social media platforms using a Malaysian Internet Protocol (IP) address.
City police chief Datuk Amar Singh said in a statement the suspect was arrested at 9.50am yesterday and brought to Jinjang police station.
“We received a report from our counterparts in Taiwan regarding child exploitation. We tracked the IP address and it was registered under a Malaysian,” he said.
Amar said the unemployed man lives in Jinjang and is believed to have been operating from home.
Police seized a handphone, a laptop, a modem, a central processing unit and a passport during the raid.
The suspect has been place under remand until Monday, and the case will be investigated for circulating obscene materials.
