KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 ― Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz today said he was uninterested in answering Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman over his criticism of Umno, saying the latter was of no significance.

The Umno supreme council member added that he will also not respond to Syed Saddiq until the latter successfully contests an election to demonstrate that he should be taken seriously.

“He's a little boy, I don't know him lah. Not important,” he told reporters after launching the Bermalam di Muzium 2016 programme at the National Museum.

“You want me to comment, let it be from a real politician. Someone who has been elected by the people. If he (an elected politician) talks, I will respond, but anybody else is not important to me.”

Nazri challenged Syed Saddiq to stand for election if he wanted to represent the people, adding that he was able to become a lawmaker at a young age.

“I was only 36 years’ old when I was a senator. So who says that there are no opportunities for the youth?,” he said.

Nazri was responding questions on Syed Saddiq’s recent statement calling Umno hypocritical in its criticism of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Syed Saddiq had accused Umno members of hypocrisy for criticising Dr Mahathir over his stand on “Bangsa Johor”, saying they were now trying to portray themselves as champions of the constitutional monarchy.

He pointed out that Umno did not speak up when the National Security Council Act was gazetted without express royal assent and when the Conference of Rulers had had last year asked for the 1Malaysia Development Bhd issue to be quickly resolved.

The 24-year-old is one of the seven founding members of Parti Pribumi, and serves as a pro-tem committee member.
