KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 ― Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has agreed for Sabah to have a representative on national oil giant Petronas’ board of directors, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said today.
The inclusion of a Sabah representative comes a day after Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem told a news conference in Kuching that state secretary Tan Sri Morshidi Abdul Ghani has been nominated to sit on Petronas’ board.
“Our Finance Ministry's permanent secretary will be appointed as a director in Petronas,” Musa was reported by The New Straits Times Online as saying in his speech in the joint opening of four Umno divisions in Kudat, where Najib was also present.
“This is how the party president listen to our needs as prime minister of this country and delivers what he promises,” the Sabah Umno leader told party delegates from the Kudat, Kota Marudu, Kota Belud and Tuaran divisions.
Both Sabah and Sarawak have contributed to Petronas’ coffers with the wealth of their petroleum and gas resources, but some of their people recently accused the state-owned oil company of discriminatory practices in engaging non-locals for jobs and contracts.
