The laptops, handed over by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at his office here, will be loaned to the five Form Five students first, and later given to their respective schools.
“This gift underlines our commitment to honouring our promises as best as possible,” the Ministry of Education said in a statement.
The ministry added that the laptops will be part of a wider loan scheme to assist 32,000 students to buy computers, which could help boost learning, especially for those preparing for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examinations.
The 11th Sarawak elections saw BN winning by a landslide, bagging 72 of the 82 seats up for grabs.
The opposition suffered a crushing defeat, with DAP losing five of the 12 seats it won in 2011, PKR merely retaining their three seats and Amanah leaving empty handed.
