KLUANG, Aug 14 — Three men and two women, all locals were charged in the Sessions Court, here today with the murder of an elderly man, late last month.
The three men, Wong Zu Yao, 21, Ong Chia Wen, 30, and Ong Chia Wei, 25, and the two women, Tan Kim Hong, 51, and Chai Yen Hiong, 20, nodded their heads when the charge was read to them in Mandarin before Judge Rohatul Akmar Abddulah.
The five along with three others still at large allegedly killed Koh Peng Huat, 65, in an oil palm farm at Jalan Kahang Timur, Kampung Gajah here between 5.30pm and 7pm on July 31.
The accused, all dressed in police custody clothes, were charged under Section 302 Penal Code which provides for the mandatory death sentence, if convicted.
Deputy public prosecutor A.Shaarmini appeared for the prosecution while the accused were represented by counsel, Abraham Mathew.
The court fixed Sept 14 for re-mention of the case in the Magistrate’s Court here, pending the chemist and post mortem reports. — Bernama
