KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 — The hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur is back with city folks returning home after the Hari Raya break.

Checks by Bernama at the main bus terminals in the capital found the stations getting more congested as increasingly more city dwellers arrived from their hometowns to return to work tomorrow.

At the Bandar Tasik Selatan (TBS) and KL Sentral integrated transport terminals, the places were packed with passengers who have just arrived and the congestion is expected to worsen by midnight.

According to a TBS spokesman up to 1pm today an estimated number of 390 buses had arrived at TBS.

“There was a total of 1,204 bus trips across the peninsular today,” he said.

A kindergarten teacher Ummi Syazwanie Munshi Abdullah, 25, when met at TBS, said she arrived today after a weeklong holiday.

“Normally the trip from my hometown in Manong, Perak to Kuala Lumpur takes about three hours, but today due to traffic congestion it took five hours,” she said.

Meanwhile Harun Hashim, 55, who has been a bus driver for the past 23 years, said many city folks chose the bus service as they do not want to drive in the traffic jams during the festive season. — Bernama
