SHAH ALAM, Feb 4 — Seven men believed to be part of two drug syndicates were nabbed by police following raids on Monday and Tuesday in Selayang and Mutiara Damansara, Selangor, which yielded RM450,000 in amphetamine powder. 

Selangor narcotics CID chief ACP Amran Ramli said the suspects had been under police radar for a year before the operation.

“The suspects in both cases were caught just as they were about to complete deals. In both instances, the drugs were found inside the suspect’s cars,” he said.

Amran said the first raid took place at an open car park in Sunway Batu Caves, Selayang, at about 4pm on Monday.

He said police picked up four men, aged between 27 and 40, with 3kg of amphetamines in their possession estimated to be worth about RM240,000. They also seized three cars.

In the other raid at an empty car park in Mutiara Damansara at about 1.50am on Tuesday, three men aged between 20 and 30 were picked up with 2.5kg of amphetamines worth an estimated RM210,000. A a car was also seized.

He added that police were also trying to ascertain if the drugs were manufactured locally or smuggled into the country.

The suspects were remanded until Monday.
