PASIR PUTEH, Feb 3 — Police succeeded in foiling an attempt to cart away an automated teller machine (ATM) of a bank here today.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim said police arrived at the bank in 10 minutes after receiving a tip-off on the incident at 5.50am.
“Three men fled as soon as they became aware of police presence at the scene,” he told reporters when met at the bank.
Mazlan said investigations found the robbers only managed to remove the control panel.
“Police are now tracking down the three suspects,” he said.
Meanwhile, at a student leader appreciation ceremony at Sekolah Menengah Sains Pasir Puteh, he said crime rates among school students in the state had increased from 50 cases in 2014 to 65 cases last year.
He said among the cases involving school students were motorcycle thefts, sexual harassment and burglaries. — Bernama
