KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 — Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali today said he has filed a defamation suit against blogger and DAP lawmaker Datuk Mohd Ariff Sabri Abdul Aziz for implying the former was a “Chinese agent”, among others.
Ibrahim said the Raub MP, popularly known for his blog moniker “Sakmongkol AK47”, had failed to respond to his notice of demand served on October 15, pushing him to file the lawsuit.
The Malay rights leader added that he is now looking forward to seeing Mohd Ariff Sabri in court.
“It was an intentional slander and I cannot forgive that,” Ibrahim told reporters at Perkasa’s headquarters today.
According to Ibrahim, Ariff Sabri had alleged that he was a director of a Chinese-owned company called George Kent (Malaysia) Berhad, a role purportedly given to him as means to fast track a deal for an LRT project.
However, Ibrahim said he had not even heard of such a company before the allegations.
“I will fight this case until the end because he is saying as though I have been used by this George Kent company and that I am a Chinese tool,” he said.
In his suit, Ibrahim cited Mohd Ariff Sabri’s blog post titled “Keadaan Negara Kita Hari Ini — Siri 2” (The State of Our Country — Series 2), which he said accused him, both directly and indirectly, of being a director at George Kent and of having made financial gains from holding the post.
He also claimed that the blog post suggested he was an “agent for the Chinese”, a Malay leader without integrity, and a hypocrite and without morals, among others.
