PASIR MAS, May 10 ― Two children were found drowned in an irrigation canal at Lati, near here.
Pasir Mas district police chief ACP Haliludin Rahim said the bodies of Muhammad Khairul Hafifi Mokhtar, 10, and eight-year-old Nur Qamariah Ahmad Najman were found by passers-by at about 4.40pm yesterday.
The bodies had been sent to Lati Hospital for post mortem, he told reporters here.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Khairul Hafifi’s father, Mokhtar Ramli, 41, said he was informed about the incident by a villager.
“My wife and I were in Tanah Merah attending a wedding feast and had left our son alone at home,” he added. ― Bernama
