IPOH, May 10 ― The Perak DAP has unanimously agreed to submit its shortlisted candidates for the Teluk Intan by-election to the party central committee candidate selection panel.

Perak DAP Chairman Nga Kor Ming said it was expected to do so after the Bukit Gelugor by-election nomination day.

“The DAP candidate is expected to be announced by the party secretary general, Lim Guan Eng before the Teluk Intan by-election nomination date which falls on 19 May,” he said in the statement today.

At a meeting held at the state headquarters yesterday, it was unanimously resolved to appoint the state DAP secretary Wong Kah Woh, who is also the assemblymen for Canning to be the campaign director.

State deputy chairman V Sivakumar and state dapsy secretary Howard Lee were appointed as co-deputy chairman of the by-election working committee.

Nga said Pakatan Rakyat Perak had resolved to organize a mammoth rally at Kampung Bahagia, Changkat Jong Teluk Intan on May 18, which is the eve of the nomination date.

The Teluk Intan parliamentary seat fell vacant after its MP Seah Leong Peng, 48, died of cancer.

During the 13th General Election, Seah defeated Gerakan President Datuk Mah Siew Keong from Barisan Nasional (BN) and Independent candidate K. Moralingam by a 7,313-vote majority.
