KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 — A 19-year-old Serbian woman sought medical help to remove a cork from her vagina that she had placed during sex three-and-a-half years ago.

The unidentified woman only sought doctor’s assistance recently as she was suffering from incontinence due to the foreign object in her private part, New York Post reported.

Citing a study published in the journal of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology, the portal reported that the woman obtained the stopper from a hairspray can during sex.

She decided to leave the object in her vagina after attempts to remove it were unsuccessful.

She did not seek medical help then “due to her sense of shame and fear of judgment from the environment”.

According to the study, the cork did not affect her menstrual cycles, which had occurred regularly and at normal intensity.

The cork was later removed by doctors using “standard gynaecological instruments”.
