SANTA CRUZ, April 13 — Hello Kitty is getting another fashion collaboration, with surf and lifestyle brand O'Neill.

The Sanrio-owned brand has teamed up with the beachwear label to create a summer swimwear and apparel range for girls, with a Fall capsule line set to follow in May.

Dubbed “O'Neill X Hello Kitty,” the collection is inspired by vintage aloha motifs and spans swimwear, cover-ups, T-shirts, tank tops and beach accessories, all featuring the iconic and kitsch feline character.

Highlights include a woven cover-up with a pom-pom trim and a practical tote bag that morphs into a beach towel. To mark the launch of the series, O'Neill is offering fans the chance to win a limited-edition O'Neill x Hello Kitty surfboard.

The collection is the latest of multiple big-name fashion collaborations for Hello Kitty — this February saw the brand release a seven-piece womenswear collection of ready-to-wear pieces and accessories with sportswear giant Puma, following on from a 40-piece capsule launched with fast fashion giant Asos back in October 2017.

The Japanese star was also named "Special Ambassador" for the United Nations World Tourism Organisation last December.
