KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 — A two-night musical, organised by the Lutheran Church in Malaysia, will be held in conjunction with the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther’s Reformation.

In the 16th century, Luther, a German priest, composer, and professor of theology, nailed to the door of a Catholic church a series of criticism of the Catholic church’s practices.

Malaysian-born international music conductor David Chin will be presenting Johann Sebastian Bach’s Bach: Mass in B Minor on July 22 and 23, 2017 at the Luther Centre Petaling Jaya.

“It is an honour for me to share with fellow Malaysians this beautiful musical artwork by Bach. Bach was a devoted Lutheran all his life and a huge follower of Martin Luther.

“For about five consecutive years, Bach composed a new cantata each week for Sunday services and Mass in B-Minor was completed towards the end of Bach’s life.

“It is arguably the best composition by Bach who was hailed as the ‘Father of Western Music’ as he innovatively combined both the older and newer musical styles of his time,” said Chin.

Tickets are upon donation of RM80 per person. For more details of the concert, please call 03-79565992 or visit www.lcm.org.my
