KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 — Get ready for another round of “Europe in Cinema” with the screening of Swedish movie The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared next month.
Europe in Cinema is a film series showing high quality feature films dealing with relevant issues in European societies. The films also represent the contribution European cinema has made to the development of cinema worldwide in the last few decades.
The series is the collaborative work by Kelab Seni Filem Malaysia, the European Union National Institutes for Culture in Malaysia (Eunic), the British Council as well as Help College of Arts and Technology.
The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared is based on the internationally best-selling novel by Jonas Jonasson and tells the unlikely story of a 100-year-old man who decides it’s not too late to start over.
The official synopsis goes like this: “After living a long and colourful life, Allan Karlsson finds himself stuck in a nursing home. On his 100th birthday, he climbs out the window and disappears. Karlsson embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey involving several murders, a suitcase full of cash and incompetent police. Soon he has turned the whole nation on its head. He does have some experience in these matters since he has previously done the same thing with the entire world.”
The screenings are held once a month and this next round will be held on March 2 at Help College of Arts and Technology’s Theatrette 1 at 7pm.
All movies will be shown in the original language with English subtitles and admission is totally free.
