KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 — While there has been much talk on religious and racial sentiments lately, these bunch of Malaysians have proven that race and skin colour mean nothing when it comes to saving lives.
The Malaysia Independent Animal Rescue shared on their Facebook page how Malaysians from different races came together to save a dog who got trapped on the high voltage tracks of the light rail transit (LRT).
According to the post, the dog had been trapped for five days, living in fear as the trains went by every hour without food and water.
The dog was first spotted by a person named as Mrs Nava, who decided to alert the Malaysia Independent Animal Rescue. Volunteers from the non-profit team then made arrangements with a person identified in the post as Mohamed Riaz from the Ampang Line Station who agreed to help rescue the dog.
After shutting down the power, Mohamed Riaz himself got down on the tracks together with volunteer Sukhveender Dhaliwal to look for the dog. Unfortunately, the dog bolted out of fear and ran four stations away.
Following this, more volunteers from the Malaysia Independent Animal Rescue tried to locate the dog at various stations but the animal kept running further away in fear.
According to the post, the same volunteers refused to give up and together with the help of Jabatan Pertahanan Awam Dang Wangi and also the police, they managed to rescue the dog, who has been aptly named “LRT”.
