NEW YORK, Sept 9 — Nomiku has launched its second-generation “Sous Vide” kitchen appliance and it has taken Kickstarter by storm.

The brand's new appliance is being billed as the world's first Wi-Fi connected sous vide immersion circulator.

Sous vide is a method of cooking food in an exact temperature for long periods of time for precise results.

Users simply clip the appliance onto a pot of water and set the desired temperature before placing the food in the pot in a vacuum-packed bag.

Making the tool Wi-Fi-enabled has also led the brand to release “Tender,” an app for iOS and Android which allows budding chefs to swap recipes and timing information amongst themselves.

Nomiku first launched in 2012, becoming the highest-ever earning project on Kickstarter at the time. The redesigned version has more than tripled its original funding goal of US$200,000 (RM638,000).

Nomiku will retail at US$249, although cheaper options are available to Kickstarter pledgers. Delivery is expected for March 2015. — AFP-Relaxnews
