KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8 – Perodua has announced official commencement of order taking for a new and improved version of the second-generation Myvi, which is due to be launched on 15 January, the company confirmed in a statement released yesterday.

“We welcome the public to visit any of our 182 sales showrooms nationwide to know more about our latest offering,” Perodua President and CEO, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said.

Since its arrival in the scene nine years ago, the Myvi has become Perodua’s most successful ever by becoming the country’s best-selling model every year since. The key to its success is its ability to transcend class by being a car that is affordable to the masses yet not out of place among the elite.

“We thank the public for the overwhelming support and love that it has shown our flagship model and we wish to further excite the market with an improved version,” Aminar added.

He further elaborated that extensive study on customer feedback has enabled Perodua to add up to RM3,800 of value to the customer’s benefit in the new Myvi. For starters, the Myvi is now a safer vehicle than before, with an enhanced structure helping it better withstand frontal impacts. Perodua claims that the new Myvi improves to a four-star safety rating under Asean NCAP requirements.

To add a little flavour to the new model, Perodua introduces two new colours, which are electric blue and cosmic gold alongside favourite colours of ozzy orange, mystical purple, glittering silver and ivory white.

Pricing for the new Myvi ranges between RM41,500 and RM58,900 in Peninsular Malaysia. A total of six variants will be on offer, powered by the model’s existing range of 1.3- and 1.5-litre engines and available with both manual and automatic transmission.
