LAS VEGAS, Jan 7 — The company unveiled the fruits of their maiden voyage into the fitness tracking industry at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on Monday, presenting their new Epson Active line, which includes an array of GPS sports watches.

Called Runsense collectively, the watches offer continuous heart rate and GPS tracking and feature Epson’s proprietary bio-sensing and motion-sensing technologies to provide runners with accurate, real-time data they can share online.

They’re all equipped with a Smart Stride Sensor that learns the runner’s unique gait, calibrating stride length by means of its GPS technology.

The 35 measurements it records include time elapsed, distance, pace, laps, intervals, speed, calories burned and more.

Runsense watches come in three styles, starting with the SF-510, which is the most basic version.

The SF-710 watch offers a function that allows you to program how many laps you wish to run and it sends you vibration notifications of your proximity to your goal.

The most advanced version offers built-in heart rate monitoring from the wrist without the need for a chest strap and it’s called the SF-810.

Runsense watches are endorsed by Olympic silver medalist and marathon champion Meb Keflezighi.

They can be pre-ordered now and availability is expected this spring. — AFP/Relaxnews
