SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 24 — Newlyweds Allen and Paige Young of Encinitas, California, combined their love of cycling and design to create a modular bike lock that fits into a small bag they say is about the size of a burrito.
Called VIER, the square-shaped lock breaks down into four separate pieces for portability, but when assembled its hardened steel frame can't be snipped like a wire cord lock.
The product resisted a 1.5 ton pull during testing.
The key lock is pick resistant, its entire cylinder is drill resistant and the entire unit weighs approximately 3.25 lbs.
It comes with two laser-cut keys and its accompanying bag measures eight inches in length, the size of a delicious burrito from Encinitas, which is close to the Mexican border.
With 18 days of crowdfunding remaining, the couple had already attained their goal of raising US$25,000 (RM79,000).
The product can still be pre-ordered for US$75 and is expected to ship in February 2015. — AFP=Relaxnews
