KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 — Malaysia’s archery team made the country proud again – starting the day with yet another gold medal at KL 2017.

The mixed team compound of Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh, 26, and Mohammad Juwaidi Mazuki, 27, defeated Myanmar 152-142 en route to their sport’s third gold medal.

Fatin got things going for team Malaysia when she hit a 10 before Juwaidi followed closely with a nine as they powered through end 1; 38-37

It was a different story in end 2, however, as Myanmar’s archers – Ye Min Swe and Aung Ngeain hit a perfect 10 each to put pressure on our national duo.

The pressure got to them and Myanmar took a commanding lead entering end 3.

Short lived joy however for the Myanmar’s as they were deducted 10 points – for hitting three arrows on a board (a team is only allowed to hit two arrows on board per attempt).

From then on, confidence was clear – and our team did not disappoint.

Fatin and Juwaidi hit two 10’s each in end 3 but kept calm to see out end 4 with a nine each.

Juwaidi – who has been averaging 9.53 points, highest at the SEA Games – was in dominant form again today after winning the gold medal in the men’s team compound event yesterday at the Syntehtic Turf Field in Bukit Jalil.

At the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore, Malaysia won four gold medals in the compound discipline – only missing out on the gold medal in the men's individual event.
