KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 — Malaysia’s women’s squash team won a historic ninth Asian Team Championships title after beating India 2-0 in the final match held at National Taiwan University in Taiwan, today.

National junior player, S. Sivasangari put Malaysia ahead after beating Sachika Ingale; 11-7, 11-6 and 12-10 in the match held at Xin Wu Tai Civil Sports Centre, said the Asian Squash Federation (www.asiansquash.org).

National champion Delia Arnold, then wrapped up the victory with a hard fought 9-11, 13-11, 11-8 and 11-9 win over India’s top player Joshna Chinappa.

Malaysia who emerged as Pool B winner, had earlier beaten Japan 2-0 in the semi-final yesterday.

Malaysia won the biennial tournament eight times — 1992, 1996, 1998, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2014. — Bernama
