SEPANG, Aug 9 — National diving queen Pandelela Rinong Pamg intents to further strengthen her physical and mental endurance in preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
She qualified for the Olympics after making to the finals in the women’s 10m platform at the Aquatics World Championships in Kazan, Russia, last week.
She obtained a bronze medal in the event.
“As part of the preparation, there will be two more competitions next month, the Asian Diving Cup and the Malaysia Diving Championship in Kuala Lumpur.
“I have to have strong mental and physical endurance, as well as to never give up training to win. These two elements are crucial to keep me focus on my training,” he told reporters at KL International Airport on arrival from London, England.
Pandelela said her holiday in London after the world championship in Russia was a motivation for her to perform better in coming competitions.
The winner on a bronze medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London said it was a dream of all athletes to give their best performance in the Olympics and that she would give her best performance to do better than her opponents.
Pandelela had previously won two bronze gold in world championships, one with Lee Mun Yee in the 10m synchronised platform in Rome, Italy in 2009 and in Barcelona, Spain, in 2013. — Bernama
