KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 ― National diving queen Pandelela Rinongended ended her FINA Diving World Series 2014 campaign in Moscow when she finished fifth in the individual event.

The 21-year old Sarawakian accumulated 364.00 points in the individual events to finish fifth out of six divers in the fourth leg of the championship held at the Olimpiysky Sports Complex in Moscow, Russia yesterday.

Pandelela, who hailed from Sarawak, claimed a bronze medal in the women’s 10m synchronised platform with Leong Mun Yee on Friday.

China’s Liu Huixia and Chen Ruolin swept the top-two finishing spots after scoring 411.40 and 397.45 points respectively. Ukranian diver, Yulia Prokopchuk settled for the bronze with 380.10 points, said the Fina website, www.fina.org.

The Malaysian diving squad had earlier bagged the bronze through Cheong Jun Hoong and Ng Yan Yee in the women’s 3m synchronised springboard on Saturday.

The meet will continue with fifth leg in Windsor, Canada from May 30 to June1 before concluding in Monterrey, Mexico from June 6 to 8. ― Bernama
