LOS ANGELES, Nov 2 — Tyrese Gibson has threated to quit the Fast and the Furious franchise as his ongoing feud with co-star Dwayne Johnson shows no sign on ending.
Gibson, 38, posted on Instagram yesterday the following message:
“I’m sorry to announce that if Dewayne (sic) is in Fast9 there will no more Roman Peirce – You mess with family and my daughters survival I mess with yours…”
In his tirade, he proceeded to call Johnson a ‘clown’ and a ‘selfish champ’.
Gibson has been bitter about the fact that Johnson and Jason Statham has been given a spin-off from the popular franchise that is due to hit cinemas in 2019.
In an earlier post, Gibson said he was angry because Johnson was offered the idea privately and accepted it without thinking about how it would affect the other cast members.
Gibson is currently embroiled in a bitter court battle with his ex-wife over custody of his 10-year-old daughter. In one of his rants, he writes that he’s almost broke because of it.
Fast and Furious 9 has been officially pushed to 2020 to make way for the Johnson/Statham spin-off, which added fuel to Gibson’s fire.
Vin Diesel, however, said that it was ‘unfair to blame anybody’.
