LONDON, March 30 — Chances are, men in medieval England had a different approach to personal grooming, so no Hollywood-worthy complexions there.

Clearly keen to maintain this sense of authenticity was Guy Ritchie for his upcoming film King Arthur.

Case in point: David Beckham who makes a cameo, but blink and you might not recognise him at all.

The football star shared a picture on Instagram in the makeup chair after undergoing a makeover for his appearance.

“Rough day at the office @kingarthurmovie @guyritchie,” he captioned the selfie, which showed a scarred forehead and left cheekbone, with one particularly deep cut extending from his temple to just above his left ear.

He also grimaced in the photo, revealing a set of yellowed, damaged teeth.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword starring Charlie Hunnam as the legendary leader will be released on May 12, 2017. Other cast members include Jude Law, Eric Bana and Annabelle Willis.
