LOS ANGELES, Aug 17 — Taylor Swift is donating US$1 million (RM4 million) to help those in need after floods have left widespread disaster in Louisiana.

According to People, Tay Tay told The Associated Press yesterday that the people of Louisiana had graciously welcomed her when she began her “1989 World Tour” in the state last year.

“We began The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home. The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking,” Swift said in a statement.

“I encourage those who can to help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time,” Swift said.

Floodwaters have left 40,000 homes damaged or destroyed and 11 people dead in Louisiana, prompting a state of emergency.
