HONG KONG, July 18 — Chow Yun-Fat may be tapped for the sequel to hit film Cold War 2, but the Hong Kong cinematic icon revealed recently that he has no plans to step in front of the camera for now.
The 61-year-old actor said that he had decided to put his health first for the rest of the year and will not be accepting any film roles.
His fans will be happy to hear, however, that this doesn’t mean Chow is planning to retire.
“I haven’t received scripts,” he was quoted as saying in an interview with Oriental Daily News, as translated by Singapore’s Straits Times.
“If I see any script that I like and if producers want me, I could ask for filming to be done next year.”
He added that he felt it was time to show his overtaxed body a little TLC.
“This year, I have a goal to achieve. I hope to be fitter,” he said, adding that he will begin training this summer to fulfil his goal of trekking up Hong Kong’s mountains in the winter.
Chow also told Oriental Daily that his daily workout regimen includes walking for half an hour, running for another 30 minutes and weight training.
