LOS ANGELES, April 18 — There’s talk that X-Men producers could be looking at the Dark Phoenix Saga as a potential follow-up to X-Men: Apocalypse.
According to Comicbook, there have been rumours that Dark Phoenix could be the next X-Men film and now the site quotes Heroic Hollywood as claiming that studio sources are swirling around the idea of Dark Phoenix being the basis of the next movie.
The Dark Phoenix Saga is widely regarded as a defining X-Men story and it centres on Jean Grey. The storyline sees her possessed by an entity known as the Phoenix Force which turns her against her former teammates and develops her into one of the most powerful enemies ever faced by Charles Xavier’s squad of mutants.
While this is all just talk for now, it’ll be interesting to see just how true it is after the release of X-Men: Apocalypse in May. X-Men: Apocalypse is the ninth film in the X-Men franchise, and the fourth to be directed by Bryan Singer.
