LOS ANGELES, Jan 27 — Malina Weissman (Supergirl) has been cast as Violet and newcomer Louis Hynes will play Klaus in the Netflix series adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, Deadline reports.
A Series of Unfortunate Events tells the tale of the orphans Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire as they struggle to uncover the cause of their parents’ death. They are confronted with a series of misfortunes along the way at the hands of the evil Count Olaf who has adopted them in order to steal their inheritance.
It is based on 13 children’s books by Daniel Handler under the pen name Lemony Snicket. The book series was also made into a film in 2004 staring Jim Carrey.
Neil Patrick Harris is reportedly in negotiations for the role of Count Olaf.
The upcoming Netflix series will be produced by Paramount TV and directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. Filming on the new series is expected to begin in March in Vancouver. — AFP-Relaxnews
