LOS ANGELES, Oct 29 — Ryan Reynolds has taken to Twitter to pay tribute to his late father who passed away over the weekend and hopes fans will donate to Parkinson’s research in his memory.

Posting a vintage snap of the father-son duo, Reynolds captioned the picture: “RIP Pops. James C. Reynolds. 1941-2015.”

Reynolds’ dad, James, had been battling Parkinson’s disease for nearly 20 years, and in his tweet, Ryan asked fans to donate to the Michael J. Fox foundation which raises money to help fund research in hopes of finding a cure.

Ryan joined the organisation in 2008 and now sits on the board of directors. In November 2014, he and the “Back to the Future” star, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991, opened up to the “Today” show last year to discuss their efforts and share stories about the impact Parkinson’s has had on their own lives.
