LOS ANGELES, Jan 10 — For its second season, the FX detective series inspired by the Coen brothers’ movie has picked up former “Cheers” star Ted Danson, along with Patrick Wilson and Jean Smart, all as series regulars.
The three actors join Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons, who were cast in December.
The next 10 episodes of “Fargo” will be set in 1979 in the towns of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Luverne, Minnesota, where a young Vietnam vet and police officer is tasked with solving a new criminal case.
Danson, seen on “CSI” as the night shift supervisor, will play Hank Larsson, a World War II veteran who is the sheriff of Rock County.
Patrick Wilson (“The Conjuring”) is cast as a young Lou Solverson, a character played by Keith Carradine in the first season.
Jean Smart (“24”) will take on the role of Floyd Gerhardt, the matriarch of a criminal dynasty.
The second season of “Fargo” will begin shooting in January in Calgary, Canada and is due to air on FX in late 2015.
While the first slew of episodes was inspired by Ethan and Joel Coen’s “A Serious Man” and “No Country For Old Men” as well as “Fargo”, the second is expected to draw more from the fraternal director duo’s “The Barber” and “Miller’s Crossing”. — AFP-Relaxnews
