LONDON, Aug 22 — Dave Grohl and company are marking the 20th anniversary of Foo Fighters with “Sonic Highways,” an HBO miniseries to accompany their upcoming eighth studio album.
“Sonic Highways” the album, due out November 10, was recorded in eight different US cities -- Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington DC and New York -- with each track featuring a “local legend” to create what frontman Dave Grohl calls “a musical map of America.”
Grohl is directing the HBO miniseries of the same name, which is to air beginning on October 17 and will follow the band as they trek across the country.
The three-and-a-half minute trailer features Dolly Parton, Slash, Willie Nelson, LL Cool J, Joan Jett, Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, Macklemore, Pharrell Williams and President Barack Obama, among many others.
Also revealed is a snippet of the band’s opening track, “Something from Nothing.” — AFP/Relaxnews
