KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 — Malaysia's total palm oil stocks in May 2017 declined 2.64 per cent to 1.56 million tonnes from the 1.59 million tonnes recorded in April.

Crude palm oil (CPO) stocks were also down by 16.52 per cent to 789,289 tonnes during the month in review from 861,983 tonnes registered a month earlier.

Stocks of processed palm oil declined 8.43 per cent to 768,330 tonnes from 737,911 tonnes, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) said in a statement today.

On production, the MPOB said CPO output improved 6.88 per cent to 1.65 million tonnes in May from the 1.55 million tonnes recorded in the previous month.

Palm kernel output, however, rose 4.64 per cent to 405,274 tonnes in May versus April's production of 387,312 tonnes.

The board said exports increased 17.33 per cent to 1.51 million tonnes in May from 1.28 million tonnes in the previous month.

Export of oleochemicals climbed 7.74 per cent to 188,847 tonnes from 175,285 tonnes in April.

Palm kernel oil exports jumped 49.13 per cent to 80,778 tonnes in May from 54,166 tonnes recorded in the previous month, but palm kernel cake fell 26.08 per cent to 158,686 tonnes from 214,680 tonnes.

In May, biodiesel exports declined 15.24 per cent to 32,087 tonnes against April's 37,857 tonnes. — Bernama
