KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 — Bursa Malaysia opened mixed today despite the improved performance on Wall Street due to the US dollar which strengthened to a seven-month high, dealers said.

At 9.08 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,685.18, down 0.52 point from last week's 1,685.70.

Gainers led losers 207 to 108, while 197 counters were unchanged, 1,290 counters untraded and 15 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 172.29 million shares worth RM74.19 million.

On the scoreboards, the FBM Emas Index rose 13.21 points to 11,747.09 and the FBMT100 Index increased 11.26 points to 11,418.44, while the FBM Emas Shariah Index gained 25.37 points to 12,610.73.

The FBM Ace improved 38.81 points to 6,475.25 and the FBM 70 strengthened 67.07 points to 13,065.12.

Sector-wise, the Finance Index inched up 8.84 points to 14,338.87 and the Industrial Index added 3.96 points to 3,331.33.But, the Plantation Index was 36.34 points lower at 7,668.40.

Among heavyweights, Maybank and Axiata eased one sen each to RM8.34 and RM6.15 respectively, while both TNB and Public Bank rose two sen each to RM13.12 and RM18.26.

Among the actives, The Media Shoppe was up half-a-sen to 10.5 sen, Bumi Armada gained 13.5 sen to RM1.13 and Pasukhas, up 1.5 sen to 23.5 sen. — Bernama
