KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 — Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Bhd’s pre-tax profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2015 fell to RM49.80 million from RM55.62 million in the same period a year ago.
Its revenue, revenue, however, increased to RM433.53 million from RM424.81 million previously.
“The increase is mainly attributed to higher sales generated by the general Takaful business and higher net investment income,” the insurance provider said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.
The half-year operating revenue increased by 16.2 per cent to RM996 million from RM856.8 million in the same quarter of the preceding year, it said.
On prospects, Takaful Malaysia said it would continue its value proposition of rewarding its customers with 15 per cent cash back for general takaful products.
It also wanted to establish a strong foothold in the local insurance and takaful arena as the preferred choice for insurance. — Bernama
