KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 — Bursa Malaysia opened lower today on lack of interest for local stocks, a dealer said.
At 9.06am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 9.04 points lower at 1,711.72 after opening 9.79 points essier at 1,710.97.
On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index fell 47.52 points to 11,844.64, the FBMT100 Index slid 49.80 points to 11,509.42 and the FBM Emas Syariah Index erased 57.58 points to 12,288.09.
The FBM Ace was down 29.05 points to 6,527.65 and the FBM 70 inched down 11.82 points to 12,847.97.
On a sectoral basis, the Plantation Index eased 20.97 points to 7,403.24, the Finance Index dwindled 51.45 points to 15,496.91 and the Industrial Index lost 29.29 points to 3,153.23.
Losers led gainers 144 to 112 while 154 counters remained unchanged, 1,414 untraded and 19 others were suspended.
Turnover stood at 121.59 million shares worth RM43.72 million.
Among actives, 1 Utopia was flat at 4.5 sen, Ikhmas Jaya rose 14 sen to 71 sen, Lee Swee Kiat added two sen to 35.5 sen and Pensonic was six sen better at 58.5 sen.
For heavyweights, Maybank slipped three sen to RM9.20, TNB fell six sen to RM12.22, Axiata lost one sen to RM6.35 and Sime Darby was four sen easier at RM8.44. — Bernama
