KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 26 — Malaysia’s job outlook for the first quarter this year is looking strong with job growth expected to hit two per cent, compared to just one per cent last year, said job search site Jobstreet.com.
Country Manager Chook Yuh Yng said from the survey conducted recently, most respondents also felt that employment prospects this year will also be better than last year’s.
Speaking at the press conference for the 16th Jobstreet Malaysia Career and Training Fair (MCTF) here today, she said jobs in sales, followed by accounting/finance, manufacturing and electrical engineering, were the most highly sought after.
Chook said Jobstreet’s salary matching function would help its users to match their expected salaries, adding fresh graduates’ monthly salaries currently average around RM2,100.
The 16th MCTF will be held on March 7-9 this year at the Mid Valley exhibition Centre with more than 180 companies including Shell, Panasonic, AIG, Nestle and British American Tobacco offering thousands of jobs.

“We expect around 120,000 job seekers to turn up given that job prospects are looking healthy, and they will have the opportunity to find a better job that meets their expectations,” said Caroline Ang, general manager of co-organiser AIC Exhibitions Sdn Bhd.
At the launch today the company also demonstrated an advanced “My Resume” feature on Jobstreet.com mobile app.
Users can now update resumes on the go, receive the right salary matching and job alerts, view jobs near them on the maps, and apply for them using the app which is available on iOS for iPhones, with versions for the Android devices in the pipeline. — Bernama
