KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia remained mixed at mid-afternoon amid buying interest in heavyweights led by consumer stocks, dealers said.

At 3.15pm, losers led gainers by 415 to 247, with 279 counters unchanged, 623 untraded and 26 others suspended.

However, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI), which remained in positive territory, rose 2.61 points to 1,815.33.

Trading was low with 755.66 million shares transacted worth RM701.55 million.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index improved 25.33 points to 16,700.98, the Plantation Index lost 2.51 points to 8,877.54 and the Industrial Index was 0.69 of a point higher at 3,154.52.

The FBM Emas Index rose 10.25 points to 12,582.29, the FBMT100 Index advanced 10.74 points to 12,313.07, the FBM Ace lost 11.51 points to 5,581 and the FBM 70 fell 16.35 points to 14,164.9.

Among actives, XOX lost two sen to 15 sen, 1 Utopia gained one sen to 8.5 sen and Sumatec declined one sen to 29.5 sen.

As for heavyweights, Maybank rose four sen to RM9.82, CIMB was flat at RM7.58 and Sime Darby lost one sen to RM9.64.

Tenaga Nasional, which has asked for a suspension from 2.30pm to 5pm today, edged up three sen to RM9.89 at the end of the morning session.

The suspension is pending a major announcement by the company. — Bernama
