KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 — The Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA) has donated today a sum of RM200,000 to the crowd-funded Tabung Harapan Malaysia.

Its president Datuk Seri Garry Chua said the gesture was made to welcome the new government’s business-friendly approach and a “patriotic reciprocal effort”.

“The Malaysia Retail Chain Association has unanimously pledged RM200,000 together with MRCA’s 450 strong retail chain members,” he said.

He said that the community also welcomed the practical move to zero-rate the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as of today, in time to spur spending for the coming Hari Raya festivities.

Tabung Harapan, launched as way for citizens to help the government pay its debt, has garnered RM18,608,925.36 as of 3pm today.
