IPOH, March 2 — The Perak police contingent will be having a training exercise tomorrow and Sunday in preparation for the 14th general election (GE14).
In a statement here, state police chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan said the exercise was planned to reflect possible scenarios at GE14.
“The exercise will be carried out by all district police to test the effectiveness by the force in facing safety threats. It is also to ensure police are ready to face the coming general election,” he said.
Hasnan said all district police personnel will be working with the Election Commission to plan and implement the “Election Day”, “Vote Counting” and “Post Election” simulations.
“Officers and personnel would be placed at chosen locations at each district to carry out the simulation that include riot,” added Hasnan.
Hasnan also said on Sunday, from 2.45pm to 6pm, a post election riot simulation would be held at Jalan Raja DiHilir and Jalan Raja Dr Nazrin Shah.
“As such, traffic in the area will be diverted,” he said.
Hasnan advised the people not to panic when they see the presence of police who are carrying out the exercise.
“The people are also advised to follow the instructions of police on duty at the designated locations,” he said.
