GEORGE TOWN, March 2 — A government-owned real estate company top executive has surrendered himself to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) today.
The company chief executive officer went to the MACC headquarters here at about 1.25pm today.
According to sources, the man was immediately arrested after he surrendered himself.
MACC was looking for him to assist in investigations into a RM3 million graft case involving the government-owned company and an engineering consultant firm.
He is believed to have conspired with an engineering consultant firm director to appoint the firm as a consultant for government projects between 2005 and 2016.
He is also believed to have held a post in the engineering consultant firm.
Yesterday, MACC remanded the engineering consultant company director to assist in investigations into the case.
This case was believed to be linked to a MACC report lodged by Penang Chief Minister’s strategic advisor Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail last year.
Saifuddin had alleged “conflict of interest” in government-owned JKP Sdn Bhd due to the posts held by its top chief executive in an engineering consultant company.
He alleged that the engineering consultant company had received projects worth over RM3 million from JKP between December 12, 2006 and July 21, 2017.
