KUALA LUMPUR, March 1 ― Kuala Lumpur and Selangor residents will face water supply disruptions starting next Tuesday for up to three days because of emergency repair works at a water treatment plant.
Syabas said Splash, the operator of the Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) water treatment plant, would carry out critical equipment repair works next Tuesday for 10 hours.
“The repair works will result in a total plant shutdown,” Syabas said in a statement.
As a result, several areas in Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Lumpur will face water cuts.
Petaling will face water supply disruption from March 6 (8am) to March 7 (9pm); Klang/ Shah Alam: March 6 (8am) to March 9 (9am); Gombak: March 6 (8am) to March 8 (12am); Kuala Lumpur: March 6 (8am) to March 8 (9pm); Kuala Langat: March 6 (8am) to March 7 (3pm); and Hulu Selangor: March 6 (8am) to March 7 (9pm).
“Currently the plant produces between 800 to 820 million litres of water per day. With such a large volume the duration of water supply restoration will differ from one area to another,” said Syabas.
The statement also advised consumers in the affected areas to store sufficient water for the duration of the disruption.
