IPOH, March 1 ― A 25-year-old man suffered a slash wound to his abdomen during a daring daylight robbery at the carpark area in front of a bank at Greentown yesterday.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Ali Tamby said the victim, who works in a company supplying vehicle spare parts, was waylaid by two motorcyclists while on his way to bank in money.
“One of the suspect pointed a knife at the victim's abdomen and demanded he handover all his valuables.
“Out of fear, the victim handed over RM33,000 of the company's money that he was supposed to bank in. He also gave them RM150 of his own money and a gold ring,” the senior policeman said.
The suspect slashed the victim before escaping on the motorcycle.
The victim, added Mohd Ali, had been admitted to a private hospital here for treatment where his condition is reported to be stable.
Mohd Ali said the case was being investigated under Section 394 of Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt while committing a robbery.
Those convicted face a maximum 20-year jail sentence, whipping or a fine.
