PETALING JAYA, Jan 30 — Would-be brides dreaming of a wedding dais to rival that used singer Yuna and Adam Sinclair for just RM200 have been given a bitter taste of reality.
According to the mStar portal, Firdaus Othman, the creative director of The Calla who prepared the item, explained the estimated cost of the US-based singer's dais was around RM70,000.
Its preparation also took workers three days and included the use of flowers and tree branches brought in from surrounding forests.
“How can it be RM200, which would just cover the wages? It's hard to state the actual price, but the rough figure is over RM70,000,” he was quoted as saying.
Commenting on the lamentations of one Fidaerdy wedding boutique about requests for similar platforms but with a price of just RM200, he said he also got similar inquiries.
While he said he has not been asked to recreate the dais used by Yuna and Adam, he said he would not replicate one if asked to copy it exactly.
“If they want something similar, we will make it differently,” he said.
Yuna and Adam were married in a ceremony in Bentong, Pahang on January 26.
Images of their wedding dais set some hearts swooning, and prompted some Malaysians online to express a desire for a similar setting minus the heart-stopping price tag.
