PADANG BESAR, Nov 28 ― The Road Safety Department (RSD) aims at reducing the number of deaths due to road accidents by 50 per cent by 2020.

Its deputy director-general, Datuk Roslan Eusoff, said continuous advocacy would be given to road users to educate them to always prioritise their own safety and of other road users.

He said apart from poor road conditions and vehicles that were not properly maintained, attitude of road users was also a contributing factor to road accidents.

“Our traffic laws and regulations are all in place, but ignorance and the selfish attitude of road users are also factors contributing to the rising number of road accidents each year,” Roslan said.
