KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 — An Indian politician barred from entering Malaysia recently will request that India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi ask Putrajaya to explain the decision.

According to Economic Times, Vaiko, the secretary-general of a Tamil Nadu party called MDMK, will also ask Modi to get clarification for the former’s detention by Malaysian Immigration officials.

He was also allegedly questioned at the airport regarding his links to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a Sri Lankan militant organisation.

He said that he received a visa for his visit here last week, and accused the Sri Lankan government of being behind his detention.

“I think after that the Sri Lankan government took steps (to prevent me from entering Malaysia) and I was stopped at the airport,” he said.

The Malaysian Immigration Department previously said that Vaiko was stopped and detained because he was blacklisted from entering the country.
