KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 — Muslim men may kiss and be intimate with their wives when fasting as long as it does not result in sexual intercourse, the Perlis mufti said.
Datuk Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin had, in a question-and-answer piece, rhetorically asked whether a man who is fasting may may be physical with his spouse.
“Someone who is fasting can kiss and be intimate with the wife as long as he does not have sexual intercourse.
“If he knows that he is unable to control himself, then he should avoid kissing and ‘other intimacies’,” he answered in a brief post on his official Facebook account.
In the same post on the fifth day of the Ramadan fasting month, Mohd Asri cited excerpts from two Islamic writings including one that said that it was permissible for a man to do anything with his wife while fasting except for sexual intercourse.
