KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 — The police have detained a man for allegedly operating a mini syabu-processing laboratory in Cheras last Friday.

The 49-year-old suspect was picked up at an apartment in Bukit Jalil, together with the seizure of the drug worth about RM90,000, and five pistols and over 260 rounds of ammunition.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh said initial investigations revealed the suspect had been processing syabu at the unit over the past two months to cater to the local market.

He said the police found black liquid believed to be ‘meth oil’ in three plastic containers; two glass jars containing hydrochloric acid and ethanol absolute; a sack filled with white powder and various beakers.

“In addition, we also seized five pistols, 268 bullets and RM65,837 at the apartment,” he told a press conference here today.

Amar Singh said the suspect was remanded for six days to facilitate investigations under Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1960 and Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — Bernama
